S. Brent Plate is a leading expert on religion and visual culture. His many books include Religion and Film; Blasphemy: Art that Offends; Representing Religion in World Cinema; and Religion, Art, and Visual Culture. He is co-founder and managing editor of Material Religion: The Journal of Objects, Art, and Belief, and co-founder and president of SCRIPT (the Society for Comparative Research in Iconic and Performative Texts). He currently teaches at Hamilton College.
