Feb 10, 2025: Prof. Oludamini Ogunnaike (UVa), “Twin Mirrors: Islam as seen by Ifa, Ifa as seen by Islam”

Ph.D. Program in Theology and Religious Studies lecture series in New North 107. Employing a method of perspectival comparison, this presentation will explore how the tradition of Ifa interprets Islam and the various ways in which the Islamic tradition has interpreted Ifa. Then, turning to reflections on contemporary academic comparison, it will examine what these traditions of interpretation reveal about each other and recent academic practices of interpretation and comparison.
